Referencing PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) using the Vancouver style of referencing.

We’ve had a few enquiries recently about how to reference the PRISMA flow chart using the Vancouver style of referencing.

Below is an example of how to do this in-text and in the reference list.

In-text: Give the PRISMA flow chart a title. Remember the citation number goes after the full-stop. Your citation can be placed in square or round brackets or you can use superscript- just be consistent throughout you assignment.

Rydym wedi cael un neu ddau o ymholiadau yn ddiweddar ynghylch sut i gyfeirio at eiriaduron ar-lein gan ddefnyddio APA. Dyma’r ateb i chi:

Yn y testun:

Gydag APA, rydych yn rhoi’r gair rydych yn ei ddiffinio, er enghraifft Meddygaeth yn lle’r awdur a rhoi dyfynodau dwbl o amgylch y gair.

“Medicine” (2016) neu (“Medicine”, 2016)

Yn y rhestr o gyfeiriadau:

Gair a ddiffinnir. (Blwyddyn). Yn Teitl y cyfeirlyfr (argraffiad os nad y cyntaf ydyw, e.e. 3ydd argraffiad). Wedi’i gael o’r url

Using APA to reference an online dictionary

We’ve had a couple of queries recently about how to reference online dictionaries using APA. Here is the answer:

In-text:

With APA, you place the word you are defining, for example ‘Medicine’ in the author position and place double quotation marks around the word.

“Medicine” (2016) or (“Medicine”, 2016)

In your reference list:

Word being defined. (Year). In Title of reference book  (edition if later than first e.g. 3rd ed.). Retrieved from url

Medicine. (2016). In Oxford English dictionary (3rd ed.). Retrieved from http://www.oed.com/view/Entry/115715?rskey=kaRczE&result=1&isAdvanced=false#ei
