Referencing popular health reports and publications

We’ve had a few queries this week about some popular health reports and how to reference them in APA style.  The first two reports are referred to as the Acheson reports, although Acheson was the chair and not the author.

Acheson Report 1988

In the reference list:

Committee of Inquiry into the Future Development of the Public Health Function.   (1988). Public health in England: Report of the Committee of Inquiry into the Future Development of the Public Health Function (Cm. 289). London: The Stationery Office.

In-text: (Committee of Inquiry into the Future Development of the Public Health Function, 1988)

Acheson Report 1998

In the reference list:

Department of Health. (1998). Independent inquiry into inequalities in health. London: The Stationery Office.

In-text:  (Department of Health, 1998)

Black Report 1980

In the reference list:

Department of Health and Social Security. (1980). Inequalities in health: Report of a research working group. London: DHSS.

In-text: (Department of Health and Social Security, 1980)

The Health Divide 1987

In the reference list:

Whitehead, M. (1987). The health divide. London: Health Education Council.

In-text: (Whitehead, 1987)
