Referencing the new NMC code

We’ve had a few queries this week around how to reference the new NMC code.  Here is the answer.

Either of these way is fine, it depends on whether you want to reference the print copy or the online PDF version:

In the reference list either:

Nursing & Midwifery Council. (2015). The code: Professional standards of practice and behaviour for nurses and midwives. London: Nursing & Midwifery Council.

Or

Nursing & Midwifery Council. (2015). The code: Professional standards of practice and behaviour for nurses and midwives. Retrieved from http://www.nmc.org.uk/globalassets/sitedocuments/nmc-publications/revised-new-nmc-code.pdf

In text the first time you cite it would look like this:

Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC, 2015) or (Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC), 2015)

Then any subsequent cites you can just use NMC (2015) or (NMC, 2015)

Any questions please let us know.
